The much-awaited “Varanasi”, starring Superstar Mahesh Babu and directed by ace filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, is generating massive buzz across the film fraternity worldwide. With its scale, ambition, and never-before-attempted visuals, the film is all set to script history in Indian cinema.
In a landmark achievement, “Varanasi” will become the first Telugu film to be shot in Antarctica. It will also be only the fifth film in the world to be filmed on the frozen continent.
As per the latest updates, the Antarctica shooting schedule is planned for the end of this month, where the team will film crucial and visually stunning sequences. The schedule is said to be extremely challenging due to harsh weather conditions and strict environmental regulations, making it one of the most ambitious shoots ever attempted by an Indian film crew.
“Varanasi” is being mounted on a massive budget and is envisioned as a globe-trotting action adventure with mythological and emotional layers, a signature Rajamouli blend. The film’s shoot is already progressing at a brisk pace across multiple international locations, including Kenya, South Africa, and other exotic destinations.
Adding to the film’s global appeal, Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays the female lead. Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in a powerful antagonist role, promising an intense face-off with Mahesh Babu.
The film’s music is being composed by Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani. Backed by top-tier technical standards and cutting-edge VFX, “Varanasi” is being positioned for a massive worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
