UP Police has arrested a B.Tech graduate, who used to sell obscene videos on Telegram. He used to target minors by taking ₹350. Police found ₹2.5 crore in his accounts. The case arose from a complaint about an AI-generated video.
Lucknow: A surprising case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh. Here the police has arrested a techie who was running a big network by selling obscene videos on Telegram. This matter came to light in Hardoi city of UP. The accused engineer used to sell videos for only Rs 350. The surprising thing is that most of the people following his Telegram channel were minors. This entire racket was busted when a boy saw his own AI-made obscene video on the channel and immediately lodged a complaint at the local police station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vikas Singh, a B.Tech graduate from Prayagraj. The accused used to take screenshots of obscene videos available on social media. After this, he used to find out the real source of those videos through Google Lens. Then he used to download these videos and upload them on his Telegram channel. Whoever subscribed to his channel, got to watch these obscene videos.
Minors were the target of the accused!
Police investigation revealed that the accused especially targeted minors aged between 12 to 17 years. Many children were continuously active on the Telegram channel of the accused and were watching obscene videos by paying money.
To investigate this case, the police first subscribed to the Telegram channel of the accused. When he tried to download the video from there, a message came from the administrator asking him to pay Rs 350. During this, the accused shared the information of his HDFC bank account. Subsequently, the police traced the accused Vikas Singh with the help of cyber cell and arrested him.
Three bank accounts and Rs 2.5 crore found
Police investigation revealed that the accused was using three bank accounts. Altogether around Rs 2.5 crore has been found in these three accounts. Police suspect that it is difficult to earn such a huge amount just by selling videos on Telegram and they are investigating from this angle as well. The accused was running several Telegram channels including “Ddose007.netoffitial” and “Ddose007.netALL”. He used to upload videos through laptop and mobile. Police have seized the laptop and mobile of the accused and are investigating further.
This whole matter came to light because of an AI-generated porn video. When a boy saw his morphed video on the channel, he immediately complained to the police. When the police started investigating the source of the video, Vikas Singh was caught. At present, the police is also investigating the bank transactions of the accused.
