Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere has opened up about disturbing experiences from her early Hollywood days in her new memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning. She recalled feeling deeply uncomfortable at a party at age 19, where she was surrounded mostly by older men and sensed she was being watched. Panettiere also shared a shocking encounter with an ” winning actor at the event.” In another troubling incident during a yacht trip in France, she described facing a disturbing experience that left her shaken and confused about the behaviour against women in the industry.

Panettiere, in her book, said that she did her best to be friendly at the party, but felt deeply uneasy. She added that the men seemed too comfortable with each other, as if they knew something she did not. She said that as a woman in a room dominated by men, she felt like she was being watched.
She recalled that she decided to trust her instincts and leave, but was then approached by an Oscar-winning actor. She said the actor wished her a good night and warned her to be careful while leaving, adding that someone had spat gum on the floor and he had gotten some on his pants.
He then pointed out a “big wad of gum” on his trousers, leaving the actress scratching her head.
She wrote that when she looked down, she was shocked to see the actor’s private parts exposed due to his unzipped fly. A shocked Panettiere immediately left the party and never told anyone about the incident, including the friend who had invited her.

She added that, until then, men in Hollywood had generally been kind and respectful toward her, with only minor inappropriate comments. However, the incident left her shocked and confused. “The gum on the pants, however, was a head-scratcher. It hadn’t hurt me and I was sure it was a drunken joke, but I’d never seen a grown man do something like that. I was shocked,” she wrote in her memoir.
In another incident described later in the book, Panettiere shared a troubling experience on a boat involving the same friend who had earlier invited her to a party. She said that during a yacht trip in France, her friend pressured her into getting into bed with a well-known man in Hollywood who was naked.
