Meeting held in Bastar, the area was already Naxal free

Amit Shah said that it is a matter of great pleasure that the meeting of the Central Regional Council is being held in Bastar at a time when the entire region has become free from Naxalism. He said that this achievement was not achieved only through security operations, but under the “Whole of the Government Approach”, the Central and State Governments together took the development to every village. “Until development reaches, the fight will not end”

The Home Minister said that Naxal affected areas were left behind in the race of development for almost five decades. Therefore, now the next goal of the government is to bring these areas at par with other developed areas of the country. He said that real change is not possible without strengthening roads, education, health, banking and digital services. Amit Shah appealed to the states to pay special attention to rural development and economic empowerment of the common people.

Praising the model of Modi government

During the meeting, Amit Shah openly praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Regional Council meetings are no longer just a formal forum, but have become a strong medium of “solution through dialogue”. Sharing the figures, Shah said that between 2004 and 2014, only 11 meetings of the Regional Council were held, whereas between 2014 and 2026, this number increased to 32. Similarly, earlier 569 issues were discussed, whereas now more than 1729 issues have been discussed and about 80 percent of the issues have been resolved.

Strict message on POCSO and rape cases

Amit Shah also emphasized on law and order and judicial reforms in the meeting. He said that if DNA testing is done on time in POCSO and rape cases, the conviction rate can reach almost 100 percent. He appealed to the High Courts to set up special courts for cases older than five years. The Home Minister said that speedy decision in serious crimes is necessary to increase public confidence.

Target to dispose of criminal cases before 2029

Amit Shah also put forward a big goal in the meeting. He said that just as the country has won the decisive battle against Naxalism, work will have to be done to ensure final disposal of every criminal case by taking it to the Supreme Court before 2029. He also appealed to the states to effectively implement the new criminal justice codes and modernize the 1930 helpline to deal with cyber crimes.

Focus also on malnutrition, education and adulteration

The Home Minister said that all the states will have to work together in the central government’s fight against malnutrition. He stressed on reducing school dropouts, improving the quality of education and taking strict action against adulteration. He suggested that the information about shops or businessmen where cases of adulteration are registered should be made public so that people can be made aware.

New political message from Bastar

The Bastar meeting was not limited to administrative discussions only. This is also being seen as a big political message from the Central Government, in which security, development and speedy justice system have been said to be the priority for the next phase. Bastar, which was once a symbol of Naxal violence in the country, now seems to be becoming a new example of “development model” and “stable administration” for the government.
