According to mythology, Ganga came to earth from heaven on the tenth day of Jyeshtha Shukla Paksha. Ganga Dussehra is said to be related to the welfare of the earth by Mother Ganga. In the scriptures, Ganga Dussehra is considered the day to liberate one from 10 types of sins.
