The trailer of the upcoming Pan-India film Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, was released on Monday at a grand launch event, drawing a mixed reaction from audiences and social media users.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film’s promotional debut quickly became a trending topic online, with viewers divided over its tone, presentation, and action-heavy visuals.
The trailer showcases Ram Charan in a high-intensity role as a character named Peddi, who is portrayed as a multi-sport athlete involved in cricket, wrestling, and running. The visuals highlight a rugged transformation for the actor, with stylised action sequences and dramatic staging forming the core of the trailer’s presentation. While fans praised his physical commitment to the role, others felt the trailer leaned heavily on exaggerated “mass” elements.
Social media reactions reflected this split response. Some users described the trailer as a typical high-energy “south masala” film that may perform strongly on opening day but face criticism later, while others appreciated the performances and scale. One user wrote that the trailer felt like “Pushpa goes in sports,” referencing its intense and stylised action tone, while another described it as a potential “blockbuster” driven by its content and performances.
The film also features Janhvi Kapoor in a key role, with netizens noting glimpses of her performance in the trailer. The ensemble cast and large-scale production values were highlighted as major talking points during the launch event held in Mumbai, which was attended by the cast and crew.
Peddi has undergone multiple release date changes. Initially scheduled for March 27, 2026, it was later pushed to April 30 and then June 25, 2026. The latest update confirms a revised release date of June 4, 2026. The film is being produced as a Telugu-language project but will release pan-India in dubbed versions including Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
