The suspicious death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal has created a sensation. The family of former Miss Pune and actress Twisha has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and murder. SIT has been formed to investigate the matter.
Who is Twisha Sharma: A case of an alleged death related to dowry harassment has shocked the entire country. Last week, 33-year-old Twisha Sharma was found dead in her home in Bhopal. Twisha was originally from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. On May 12, her body was found hanging in the house of her husband Samarth Singh in Katara Hills area of Bhopal. Samarth is a lawyer by profession. It is being told that Twisha and Samarth met through a dating app in the year 2024. After this both of them got married in December 2025.
Twisha Sharma was an MBA graduate and former ‘Miss Pune’.
Twisha Sharma was considered very talented in both studies and career. She was an MBA graduate and had worked for many years in a Delhi company before marriage. Apart from this, he also worked in the entertainment world. Twisha was seen in two films, which include ‘Mugguru Monagallu’ (2021) and ‘Zara Sambhal Ke’ (2018). People associated with the film industry are also shocked by the news of his sudden death.
Co-actor Dhikshit Shetty expressed grief
Actor Dhikshit Shetty, who worked with Twisha Sharma in the film ‘Mugguru Monagallu’, expressed deep sorrow on this news. Dhikshit, who recently gained recognition after working with actress Rashmika Mandanna in the film ‘The Girlfriend’ (2025), said that Twisha was an extremely hard-working and dedicated girl. He said, “This is very shocking news. I always knew her to be a hard-working and passionate person. She was full of life. So it is difficult to believe that she committed suicide.”
Twisha wanted to leave acting and focus on studies and family.
Dhikshit Shetty told that he last talked to Twisha about 4 years ago during the shooting of the film. After that there was no contact between the two. He said that he did not even know that Twisha was married. According to Dhikshit, Twisha had told him that she wanted to complete her masters studies further. She did not find the acting world to be as per her expectations and wanted to be with her family. He also told that Twisha’s brother was in the army and he was very attached to the family.
Director Abhilash Reddy told that he likes simplicity and professional.
Abhilash Reddy, director of the film ‘Mugguru Monagallu’ also expressed grief over the death of Twisha Sharma. He said that Twisha was a very professional and simplicity-loving actress on the set. Abhilash Reddy said, “I met her parents during the screening of our film. They were very nice people. The news of Twisha’s death is very sad and shocking.”
SIT formed to investigate allegations of dowry harassment
Bhopal Police has intensified investigation in this case. The police have formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the dowry harassment allegations against Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and her mother, retired judge Giribala Singh. Katara Hills Police Station House Officer Sunil Kumar Dubey said that Twisha’s family has accused her in-laws of murder.
Family claims- Twisha wanted to go back to Noida
Twisha’s relatives say that they had talked to Twisha on phone till around 10 pm on the night of the incident. According to the family, Twisha wanted to leave Bhopal and go back to Noida. On Friday, Bhopal court granted anticipatory bail to retired judge Giribala Singh in the case. Meanwhile, the anticipatory bail plea of Samarth Singh is to be heard on May 18.
