India-as relations: American foreign policy expert Rust Kohle has given a big statement amid increasing tension in the relations between America and India. He says that the anti-India policies of America were actually started during Biden’s tenure and Trump is now carrying them further aggressively.
It has become a common belief in Washington that it is necessary to prevent India from becoming the third superpower and for this the US can affect India’s relations with neighboring countries.
According to Rust Kohle, from 2024, cracks in Indo-US relations started deepening. While India hoped that the situation would improve as soon as Trump returned to power, the reality was the opposite. Trump is not only continuing Biden’s policies but has also intensified him. America’s growing penetration in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar and Maldives is part of this strategy.
America supported India by the end of 2023
Rust Kohle said that the US continued to support India by the end of 2023 and hoped that India would support it against China. But in 2024, patience responded. The Biden administration worked against India’s interests on issues like Bangladesh, Khalistani terrorist Pannoon and Adani. India considered it an attempt to weaken Modi and hoped that everything would be alright when Trump returned, but Trump doubled this policy.
Relationships can deteriorate with neighboring countries
The expert says that in the near future, relations with India’s neighboring countries may get worse. Washington thinks that if India wants to leave the US and become a third pole, then the US will not help in its upliftment and will stop its path with China.
Expecting help from Russia useless
According to Rust Kohle, India has no strong ally like Russia. Russia could not save its close associates Armenia from Azerbaijan and Iran from Israel. Therefore, India will have to compromise with America and find a way to work with Trump.
Gives India conscious
Kohle believes that India should press its ambitions for the next 10 years, as China had done. When China was equal to India, it did not openly talked about becoming a superpower, but quietly developed and moved forward with its main opponent. India should also adopt the same strategy.
America stance with Pakistan
Meanwhile, on the visit of Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir to the US, the White House made it clear that Washington’s relations with India and Pakistan are unchanged. US State Department spokesman Tami Bruce said that diplomats are committed to both countries. This statement came when Munir’s nuclear threats were questioned.
