With around two months to go, the promo for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things is about to begin. A new teaser for the last season dropped during the Emmy Awards, and fans noticed that the rating for the Netflix show has changed from TV-14 to TV-MA. Here’s what the new rating could hold for the story on Season 5.
Stranger Things Season 5 teaser during Emmys 2025
The teaser depicts the journeys of both the actors and the characters on Stranger Things as we see Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, and Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield prepare for the final battle.
Schnapp’s voiceover states, “This thing, it ties us together…” The rest of the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana, are gearing up for war. But will they emerge victorious against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who will return as well?
New rating for Stranger Things Season 5
The rating of the new teaser is marked at TV-MA; the first four seasons had a TV-14 rating. The streaming service updates ratings on its shows when the stories feature violence, sex, adult language, nudity, or substance use. The supernatural horror show has upped its ante several times during the course of its run. And with its finale, there might be gory or graphic scenes during the upcoming battle. Bodies and lives are definitely being felled before the show ends. The TV-MA is the same as an R rating for feature films in the US, which requires audiences to be at least 17 years old to watch the content.
Volume 1 of Stranger Things, which is made up of Episodes 1-4, will release on November 26, ahead of Thanksgiving, followed by Volume 2, with episodes 5-7, on Christmas, December 25. The series finale, with episode 8, will premiere on New Year’s Eve, December 31.
