RAIPUR: Union home minister Amit Shah late on Sunday evening arrived here on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh.
He is scheduled to attend several official programmes at Raipur and Jagdalpur, headquarters of Bastar during his stay in Chhattisgarh.
Mr. Shah is scheduled to review the security situation in Bastar after the tribal region was declared free from armed Maoists on March 31.
He is also scheduled to attend the 26th meeting of the Central Zonal Council meeting involving the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Mr. Shah, who arrived here at around 8.40 pm, proceeded to a private hotel for a night halt, from the Raipur airport.
He is going to unveil the Dial 112 service for the state here on Monday.
He would then proceed to Jagdalpur in Bastar.
This would be his first visit to Bastar after the region was declared Naxal-free on March 31.
He is scheduled to inaugurate a ‘Jan Suvida Kendra’ (public service Centre) at Netanar near Jagdalpur.
A security camp was established in Netanar which has now been developed into a ‘Jan Suvida Kendra’.
He would then proceed to the ‘Amar Vatika’ in Jagdalpur to pay tributes to the jawans martyred in the Maoist violence.
The union minister is scheduled to review the security situation in Bastar in the post-Maoist period and also progress of various developmental works being undertaken in the region at Jagdalpur on the day.
He will attend a cultural program in the night.
Mr. Shah will chair the 26th meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Jagdalpur on May 19 before leaving for New Delhi via Raipur on the same day.
