‘Why aren’t you dismissing the Education Minister’: Rahul Gandhi asks PM Narendra Modi after NEET paper leak

New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday launched a fresh attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and questioned why he had not dismissed the Union Education Minister yet, after the NEET-2026 examination paper was leaked. Gandhi in a post on social media platform, ‘X’, launched a scathing attack on the government over the recent paper leak, which ultimately led the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel the examination.

Rahul Gandhi compares NEET 2024 and NEET 2026

Gandhi in his social media post drew a comparison between NEET 2024 and NEET 2026 examination. Recalling the 2024 NEET paper leak, the Congress leader said that after the paper leak that year, the exam was not cancelled, the (Education) Minister did not resign and a CBI enquiry was set up. He said that a committee was also formed to look into the paper leak.

Fast forward to 2026, Gandhi said that this year after the NEET paper leak, the exam got cancelled, but the Union Minister still did not resign. He said that the CBI is once again investigating the case and yet another committee will be formed.

He then directly addressed the PM. He said, “Mr. Modi, the country is asking you some questions – answer them!” He raised 3 questions for the PM, they are, “Why are paper leaks happening repeatedly?”, “Why are you silent time and again on this “exam paper discussion?” and “Why aren’t you dismissing the Education Minister who keeps failing repeatedly?”

Gandhi also used the hashtag SackPradhan in his post on ‘X’. This is the second time that he has attacked the government regarding the NEET paper leak.

NEET paper leak and exam cancellation

Meanwhile, the NEET exam paper leak was discovered on Friday. The exam was held on May 3, 2026. Following this the NTA announced that the 2026 examination, for admission to medical colleges across India, stands cancelled.

On Friday, Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan held a press conference. He talked about how the paper of this year’s examination got leaked. He told the media persons that some questions in a guess paper for the exam were found to be similar to the original question paper. He also announced that from next year onwards, the NEET exam would be a computer-based test.

The re-examination of NEET is scheduled to be held on June 21. The cancellation has impacted nearly 23 lakh aspirants across the country. This is the first time that the exam has been entirely cancelled, after the NTA took over the task of conducting the prestigious examination in 2019.
