Salman Khan Does NOT Read Scripts, He Writes Them – Here’s Why

Bollywood superstar and our very own Bhai ,has revealed an unusual approach to choosing films. In a recent interview, the actor admitted that despite being part of the film industry for decades, he has never actually read a script from start to finish. Instead, Salman prefers listening to scripts directly from writers and directors, believing that hearing the narration helps him understand the filmmaker’s true vision. The actor also shared that whenever he feels confused about a project or major decision, he still turns to his father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, for honest feedback.

Salman Khan made a surprising confession during an interview with Variety India when he revealed that he has never read a script in his entire life. Explaining the reason behind it, the actor said that he struggles to focus while reading because his thoughts move much faster than the written lines. “I’ve never read a script in my entire life. I’ve written them, but I’ve never read them,” Salman shared. He further explained that while reading, his mind tends to jump ahead, making it difficult for him to stay connected with the material in the intended way.

According to the actor, listening to a script narration allows him to understand the exact tone and vision that the director or writer wants to bring to the screen. Salman believes that reading scripts himself would automatically make him imagine the story differently, potentially clashing with the filmmaker’s creative intent. The actor said that when he hears a narration directly from the creator, he gets clarity about the kind of film being made. This process helps him align himself with the filmmaker’s storytelling instead of him trying to create his own vision.

Despite being one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, Salman Khan revealed that he still seeks advice from his father, Salim Khan, especially during moments of confusion. The actor admitted that his father is the first person he approaches for honest feedback on scripts and career decisions. Salman added that unlike many people who seek advice only to follow their own instincts later, he genuinely listens to his father’s suggestions and acts accordingly.

For the uninitiated, Salim Khan has written iconic films like Sholay and Deewaar and is regarded as one of Bollywood’s greatest storytellers. Salman’s trust in his father’s judgment explains why the veteran writer’s opinion carries immense importance in the superstar’s life.

On the work front, Salman Khan has an exciting lineup ahead. The actor will next be seen in , directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films. The film has not fixed a release date yet. Apart from that, Salman is also set to collaborate with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for an upcoming superhero project. Reports suggest that the actor will start the film around October-November 2026 after wrapping up work on director Vamshi Paidipally’s next movie, for which he has started shooting already. The much-awaited project is reportedly being planned for an Eid 2027 release and stars Nayanthara.
