Supreme court warning to eci: Before the assembly elections in Bihar, the Election Commission of India has done a special intensive revision (SIR) process of the voter list. The opposition alleges that the names of millions of people have been cut from the voter list. The case is in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court on Monday gave a strong warning to the Election Commission during the hearing in the case. It is said that if any illegality is found in the functioning adopted by the Election Commission, then the entire process of Bihar SIR will be canceled.
Supreme Court’s decision will affect SIR to be held across the country
The case was heard against the survey by a bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi. The bench said that it is assuming that the Election Commission has followed law and compulsory rules in the operation of SIR. The court refused to give different opinions on the issue. This made it clear that its final decision would affect the SIR to be made across the country.
Last debate in Supreme Court will be held on BIHAR SIR on 7 October
The Supreme Court has fixed October 7 to hear the final debate on the validity of SIR practice in Bihar. The Supreme Court on 8 September directed that Aadhaar should be considered as the 12th valid document to register the name in the voter list during the ongoing SIR in Bihar. The order came after complaints that the election officials are refusing to accept it despite the earlier instructions.

The Supreme Court had clearly stated that Aadhaar does not prove to be India’s citizenship, but it can be used as an identity card. This will remain a valid proof of residence. In fact, the opposition parties allege that the names of millions of real voters have been removed from the voter list without proper verification. On August 18, the Election Commission published a draft list. It showed that 65 lakh names have been removed under the SIR process.
