Mistakes related to storing things in the refrigerator

Storing things in the fridge has made kitchen work much easier. Well, this is a very useful thing in a busy life. But many mistakes are repeated in keeping food items in it. This is the most important electronic item in daily life, but its wrong use can cause serious harm to health. The refrigerator which keeps milk, curd, vegetables, fruits and other things fresh or prevents them from getting spoiled sometimes also becomes an enemy of health. One such mistake is storing vegetables inside polythene in the fridge. Know what experts say on this…

Senior Dietitian Dr. Payal Dutt of Kailash Hospital Dehradun She says that if vegetables are kept in the fridge along with a polybag, then whatever water is present in that bag gets absorbed in the vegetables. Due to this, vegetables become wet which leads to bacterial growth. Especially in green leafy vegetables and if we keep half-cut vegetables inside polythene in the refrigerator, it can cause serious harm.

Experts say that the protective layer that keeps the cut vegetables safe has been removed. In such a situation, keeping them in polythene like this can prove to be dangerous for health. After keeping the vegetables in polybag, there is no air flow in them.

Due to lack of oxygen or air, thilane gas is formed in the humidity. This not only spoils the vegetables but also reduces the essential vitamins like C and D to some extent.

The best way to store vegetables is to wash them thoroughly after bringing them from the market. Then if possible, expose it to sunlight or keep it under a fan to dry. Now store vegetables and fruits in the box or in the fridge at the given place.
