A very shameful case has come to light from Palamu district of Jharkhand, which has created a sensation in the entire area. Here a 68-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl. The police have registered a case against the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and sent him to judicial custody. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
According to India Today report, the incident came to light when the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother. After this the police took action and anger spread in the entire area. A large number of people gathered and condemned the accused. People demanded that those who commit crimes against children should get the strictest legal punishment.
According to the police, the name of the accused is Vidya Saav. It is alleged that he took the girl to his home on April 30 and did wrong things with her. The matter came to light when on Thursday the accused allegedly contacted the girl again and tried to lure her to his house by luring her with chocolates.
The girl got scared by this attempt and she told her mother everything about the incident that had happened earlier. After this the family informed the neighbors, after which an angry crowd gathered and started raising slogans against the accused.
Angry people demonstrated
The matter escalated and the protesters blocked traffic by burning tires near Cinema Turn on NH-139. Due to this the movement of vehicles stopped for some time. However, the protest was ended after police officials reached the spot and assured the people that strict action had been initiated against the accused.
Police Inspector Devvrat Poddar said that the accused was arrested from his house soon after the complaint was registered. “The police will collect evidence and try to ensure that the accused is punished as soon as possible,” he said.
The girl has been sent to Medininagar for medical examination. Police say that statements are currently being recorded and the medical report will be an important part of the investigation.
Chhatarpur SDPO Avadh Kumar Yadav said that a case has been registered based on the written complaint of the victim’s mother and legal proceedings are underway.
