Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan visited Serikhedi Multi Utility Center in Raipur and appreciated the work of SC project, Pink Didi e-auto service and women self-help groups. He called it a strong model towards self-reliant India.
Raipur. Kamlesh Paswan today visited the Multi Utility Center located at Serikhedi in Raipur district. In this center operated under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (BIHAN), she inspected the livelihood activities and innovations conducted by women self-help groups. During the visit the Minister particularly appreciated the AJA project and better market linkages run by women. He described it as an inspirational and exemplary model for the entire country.
Income of villagers is increasing due to ST project and scientific animal husbandry is getting new direction.
The Union Minister closely observed the work of the Integrated Goat Farming Model ‘ST Project’. He said that this project is not only increasing the income of rural families but also promoting scientific animal husbandry. He appreciated the arrangements like modern shed, regular vaccination, animal insurance, online monitoring and organic fertilizer manufacturing. The Minister said that providing better markets for the products prepared by women’s groups is an initiative worth learning from for other states also.
Pink Didi e-auto service becomes an example of women’s self-reliance
During the inspection, the Minister also praised the ‘Project Pink Didi’ e-auto service operated in Nava Raipur. He talked to the women associated with this scheme and learned about their experiences. The Minister said that this initiative is playing an important role in making women economically self-reliant as well as in environmental protection. Apart from this, he also visited Business Didi, mushroom production, agriculture based livelihood activities and livelihood service centres.
Women who used to take care of household responsibilities now become business directors
Minister Shri Paswan also discussed with the women of the Board of Directors of Farmer Producer Group (FPO). The women told how they have come out of the confines of their homes and are leading organized businesses today. During this, the Minister tasted Mahua cookies and appreciated the work of women’s groups. He said that real women empowerment is to earn profits by organizing the unorganized sector.
Instructions given to officials to expand schemes
The Union Minister of State said that the rural livelihood model of Chhattisgarh can become a source of inspiration for other states of the country. He instructed the officials to lay more emphasis on the expansion of these schemes. He also congratulated the concerned officials and women self-help groups for their better work. Panchayat Secretary Bhim Singh, Collector Gaurav Singh, District Panchayat CEO Kumar Biswaranjan and other officials were present during the tour.
