Former Indian cricket team player Yograj Singh is once again embroiled in controversies. This time the matter is not about any of his old statements, but about a viral scene from the OTT show Lukkhe. A clip spreading rapidly on social media has created a new controversy, in which alleged objectionable remarks about women are heard. After the video surfaced, people’s anger increased and now the matter has reached legal action.
An FIR has been registered against Yograj Singh in Sector-36 police station, Chandigarh. This case has been registered under sections related to respect for women and broadcasting objectionable content on digital platforms. Many users on social media have called this comment an “insult to women” and demanded strict action.

Under which sections was the case registered?
According to media reports, a case has been registered against Yograj Singh under Section 79 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Section 62A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. These sections are usually imposed in cases involving circulating derogatory or objectionable material against women online.
The complaint has been lodged by advocate Ujjwal Bhasin. Talking to the media, he said that the kind of things said about women in the video hurt the dignity of working women and women who take care of their families. She said that today’s women are fulfilling the responsibilities of both home and career, hence such comments give a wrong message to the society. Bhasin also said that the use of police uniforms and characters in the show has also hurt people’s sentiments. She has also appealed to the Women’s Commission to take suo motu cognizance.

The controversial scene is said to be from Amazon Prime Video’s web show Lukkhe. In this show, Raashii Khanna is seen in the role of police officer ‘Gurbani’, while Yograj Singh is playing the role of ‘Waliya Saheb’. In the viral clip, Yograj Singh’s character is seen allegedly making objectionable remarks about women during a conversation with a male policeman. This scene is being shared rapidly on social media and strong reactions are being seen regarding it. The show also stars Palak Tiwari, Shivankit Singh Parihar, Ayesha Raza and King in important roles.

Silence till now from makers and Yograj Singh
Despite the increasing controversy, till now no official statement has come from the makers of the show. Yograj Singh has also not given any public reaction on this entire matter. Police say that the viral video and complaint are being investigated, after which further action will be decided.
