Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath termed the national interest as paramount amid the West Asia crisis and appealed to adopt public transport and renewable energy. He also enumerated the changes in UP’s development, law and order, investment, employment, tourism and infrastructure.
Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that just as the countrymen united and faced the crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic, in the same way there is a need to fulfill collective responsibility amid the situation in West Asia. He said that this global crisis could affect fuel, food items and fertilizer supplies. In such a time, every citizen should adopt options like public transport, car pooling, electric vehicles and renewable energy so that the country’s self-reliance campaign can be strengthened. The Chief Minister was addressing the ‘9 Defining Years of Transforming UP’ conclave organized at Hotel Taj, Lucknow.
Government’s focus on fuel saving and cow dung gas model
Referring to the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Yogi said that saving fuel is very important in the interest of the country. He urged people to adopt metro, shuttle buses and alternative energy sources. He said that more than 15 lakh cows are protected in more than 7700 cow shelters in the state. Through these, cow dung gas plant based collective kitchen model can be developed in rural areas, which will reduce the dependence on LPG. The Chief Minister said that in times of crisis, the national interest should be supreme. It is the responsibility of every citizen to stand with the nation and contribute.
Advice to respond after understanding PM Modi’s appeal
The Chief Minister said that negative comments should not be made on the basis of incomplete information on the Prime Minister’s appeal. It is important to read and understand the appeal seriously before arriving at any conclusion. He said that if the country is safe then everyone will be safe and if the country is prosperous then every citizen will also move towards prosperity.
CM Yogi’s statement on the history of Uttar Pradesh and India’s economic strength
CM Yogi said that the youth should get correct information about the glorious history of Uttar Pradesh and India. He told that between 500 to 1500 years ago, India’s share in the global economy was 44-45 percent. He said that at that time India had an excellent agricultural system, water resources, manufacturing and a strong system of handicrafts. There was a large network of micro, small and medium industries and Indian traders had access to the world market. According to the Chief Minister, India became the economic superpower of the world due to the strength of agriculture, tourism and industries.
Thousands of years of traditions kept India together
The Chief Minister said that India’s prosperity is thousands of years old, but with time we have lost confidence in our knowledge, innovation and research, due to which the country started lagging behind. He said that earlier pilgrimage was the main medium of tourism. Religious traditions like Kedarnath and Rameshwaram connected North and South India. Systems like Char Dham and Dwadash Jyotirlinga kept the entire country united. He said that despite thousands of years of invasions and exploitation, India was successful in saving its culture and existence.
Attack on law and order and development situation in UP before 2017
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that before the year 2017, the situation in Uttar Pradesh was very bad. The youth were facing identity crisis, businessmen were migrating and farmers were forced to commit suicide. He said that there used to be riots during festivals, mafia rule and corruption was at its peak in the state. There were no good arrangements for electricity, roads, irrigation and markets and traditional industries were closing down. CM Yogi said that in 2017, the public gave a chance to the double engine government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. After the formation of the government, plans were prepared after reviewing every department.
Zero tolerance policy and equitable development model in UP
The Chief Minister said that the government has made a clear policy that nepotism and regionalism will not be encouraged. Today, similar development is taking place in all the 75 districts and 58 thousand gram panchayats of the state. He said that zero tolerance policy against crime and corruption is implemented in the state and equal power supply has been ensured in every area.
Expressway, airport and infrastructure changed the picture of UP
CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh’s share in the total expressway network of the country is about 60 percent. Big projects like Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Ganga Expressway have been ready. He told that the country’s largest airport is ready in Jewar, Noida and flights will start from June 15. Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail and National Waterway are also strengthening the connectivity of the state.
Agricultural growth rate increased in UP, farmers are getting facilities
The Chief Minister said that the agricultural growth rate of the state has increased from 8 percent to 18 percent. Farmers are being provided free irrigation, better seeds, new technology and market facilities. He said that 92 percent payment has been made to the sugarcane farmers and the sugar mills have come out of losses and have reached a profitable position.
UP becomes a big center of the country in MSME sector and investment
CM Yogi said that earlier the MSME sector of UP was neglected, but today more than 96 lakh MSME units are active in the state, providing employment to about three crore people. He said that the state has a land bank of 75 thousand acres available. Investment requires security, land and clear policies, and UP is now in a strong position on all these parameters. The government has made different sectoral policies for 34 sectors, due to which Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a major center of investment.
Youth are getting employment in UP only
The Chief Minister said that earlier lakhs of youth used to go to other states for employment, but now they are getting opportunities in Uttar Pradesh itself. He said that till now the government has given government jobs to more than 9 lakh youth. Strict laws have been made against paper leaks and copying, which have provisions up to life imprisonment and confiscation of property.
Employment increased due to Mahakumbh and tourism
The Chief Minister said that 66-67 crore devotees reached Prayagraj during Mahakumbh. Around 156 crore tourists came to the state throughout the year. He said that due to the increase in tourism, people associated with hotels, restaurants, taxis and local business have got employment on a large scale.
Government claims on women’s safety and increasing per capita income
CM Yogi said that today women in Uttar Pradesh can work till late night without fear. Daughters are going to school and college in a safe environment. He said that the per capita income of the state has increased from Rs 43 thousand to more than Rs 1.20 lakh. The state budget has increased from Rs 2.5 lakh crore to Rs 9.12 lakh crore.
Expansion of poor welfare schemes and health facilities
The Chief Minister said that the government has taken forward both development and poor welfare without imposing new taxes. He said that 65 lakh poor people are being provided houses, 2.61 crore people are being given toilets, 15 crore people are being given free ration and 10 crore people are being given health facilities up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He said that banks are also investing the most in Uttar Pradesh because they have confidence in the system and security of the state.
