New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday announced the signing of Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as the replacement of injured Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Ghosh was ruled out of the IPL 2026 after suffering an injury on his CSK debut against the Mumbai Indians on May 02. Noronha will join the CSK squad as a replacement for the Maharashtra all-rounder at his base price of Rs 30 lakh. The Karnataka star has risen to fame with his strong performances for his state team over the last couple of seasons.
Noronha finished as the highest run-getter in the 2024-25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy and has also done well in the Karnataka Premier League. Macneil Hadley Noronha is a 24-year-old all-rounder who plays for Karnataka in the domestic circuit. Noronha bowls right-arm off-spin and is a middle-order batter. He made his T20 debut for Karnataka in December 2024 and has 58 runs to his name in three matches for his state team. He also has a solitary wicket under his belt for Karnataka in T20s.
Noronha plays for Mangalore United in the Karnataka Premier League and has been one of the consistent performers for the franchise. Naronha is unlikely to make the cut into the CSK team immediately and is likely to be a cover as the five-time champions head into the business end of the season.
CSK are currently fifth on the IPL 2026 points table and are alive in the race for the playoffs with 12 points from six wins after 11 matches so far this season. The five-time champions have three matches remaining in the league stage and will be hoping to win at least two of them to secure a spot in the top four.
