Former CM MK Stalin has supported the students protesting in Delhi against NEET. He wrote on X that NEET was designed to allow massive irregularities and scrapping it is the only permanent solution.
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [भारत]July 22 (ANI): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president MK Stalin on Wednesday supported the protesting students in the national capital and demanded “abolishment of NEET”. He said only “cancellation” of the medical entrance examination could provide a permanent solution to the issues raised by students.
Stalin, in a post on Twitter, said the student protests in New Delhi had “now captured the attention of the entire country”, adding that he was the first to warn that NEET was designed to “enable large-scale irregularities”.
Stalin wrote, “The student protests in New Delhi have now captured the attention of the entire nation. We were the first to warn that NEET was designed to enable large-scale irregularities. Stalin further stressed that the “abolition of NEET” should be at the center of CJP’s ongoing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Stalin said, “Tamil Nadu, which led India in defending social justice and paved the way for the first constitutional amendment, has only one demand: abolition of NEET. More than any other demand, abolition of NEET should be at the center of these protests. Only abolition of NEET will provide a permanent solution to all these problems. Ban NEET, save students.”
Uproar from road to Parliament
On July 20, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) held a ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest in the national capital, which was responded to by the police. Opposition leaders have strongly criticized the police action and alleged that the protesters were “lathi-charged” and tear gas shells were fired.
Apart from this, opposition MPs will protest outside the Makar Gate of Parliament today demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest is tentatively scheduled for 10:30 am, during which opposition MLAs will also raise concerns over irregularities in the NEET UG exam. They will also protest against the police action against students on July 20.
Congress MP Hibi Eden also gave notice of an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the police action on students protesting near Parliament.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief whip in Rajya Sabha Nadimul Haq on Wednesday gave a notice under Rule 267 for discussion in the House on the alleged police action on student protests organized by the cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in the national capital during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament. According to the notice, Haq has sought an immediate discussion on “the atrocities of Delhi Police against peacefully protesting students on July 20”. (ANI)
