Income tax
For Finance-Year 2024-25, the government has increased the deadline for filling ITR from 31 July to 15 September 2025. That is, today is the last date to fill ITR. But, due to heavy load on the portal, people are facing many problems, especially in downloading AIS. Many chartered accountants and taxpayers have complained about not being downloaded. However, this problem is not in the entire system and not the same for all taxpayers. The Income Tax Department is suggesting to use and clear how to use specific browser.
The portal may be working well, but it is not able to handle so many taxpayers requests simultaneously. Apart from this, the Income Tax Department cleared on social media on 13 September 2025 that AIS can no longer be downloaded from a third-party software tool. Now AIS is just one way to download. First log on to the e-filing ITR portal and then go to the AIS Compliance Portal (https://ais.insight.gov.in/complianceportal/ais).
In an ET report, Mihir Tanna, Associate Director of SK Patodia LLP, said that we have been trying to download AIS and upload ITR from Compliance Portal for the last few days. For this, we adopted many ways, such as Incognito Mode, Browser Cash clearing, using LAN-based Ethernet Internet, and in addition to Google Chrome, use Microsoft Edge browser. After clearing the cash, some success in the morning or late evening was some success, but as the day climbed, the portal stopped working again and again. Even after repeatedly trying for many of our clients, the portal is sometimes working.
What can you do?
You can use browsers such as Microsoft Edge (version 88 or above), Google Chrome (88+), Mozilla Firefox (86+), or Opera (66+). Windows 7 or new version, Linux, or Mac OS can be used. Also clear your browser cookies and site data. If possible, use high-speed, low-altancy ethernet wired connection. By following these steps, you can reduce the problems of the portal to some extent and complete the ITR filing process.
