Janjgir: A surprising news has come from Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. A teenager died after allegedly eating watermelon at a wedding here. Four more children also fell ill in this incident and were admitted to the hospital. However, now his condition is said to be out of danger.
This incident took place in Gurkod village. All these children had come to their maternal uncle’s house to attend a wedding. It is being told that everyone had dinner at around 12 noon, in which watermelon was also served. After about two hours the children started vomiting. They also started having diarrhea and difficulty in breathing, after which the family members got scared and immediately took the children to the hospital.
A teenager named Akhilesh Dhiwar died during treatment in the hospital. The family members suspect that Akhilesh died due to food poisoning and watermelon could be the reason.
As soon as information about the case was received, the health department team reached the wedding house. The team has collected samples of food and watermelon. Doctors say that postmortem of the deceased child has been done and samples have been taken for testing. Initially it seems to be a case of food poisoning, but whether the real reason is watermelon or something else, it will be clear only after the investigation report comes. At present, the condition of the remaining four children is improving.
