Ghosts built the temple in one night

It is said that this temple was built by ghosts in a single night. Local people believe that when the temple was almost ready, one morning a woman from the village started running a mill, the sound of which sent away the ghosts and the temple could not be completed. For this reason it is also called the temple of ghosts. However, there is no concrete evidence for this story.

What is the history of this temple?

According to historians, this temple was built by King Kirti Raj of Kachwaha dynasty in the 11th century. His wife Queen Kaknavati was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. The temple was named Kakanmath after his name. This temple is about 115 feet high. Shivalinga is still there inside the temple. However, with the passage of time this temple now appears to be in ruins. It was built by balancing huge stones on top of each other. No adhesive substance like cement, plaster or lime was used in its construction.
