New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will look to bounce back to winning ways and clinch the five-match series when they lock horns with England in the penultimate 4th T20I of the five-match series at the Kennington Oval in London on Tuesday. India are currently leading the series 2-1 after winning two of the first three matches.
India thrashed England by 97 runs in the series opener at Trent Bridge in Nottingham to take a 1-0 lead, before beating the hosts by 24 runs in the 2nd T20I in Bristol to make it 2-0. The visitors had a chance to clinch the series with their third straight win in the third T20I. However, England returned to winning ways by clinching a close 5-run victory in the 3rd T20I to pull one back in the series.
Openers Sophia Dounkley and Danielle Wyatt starred for England in the 3rd T20I as the duo slammed half-centuries apiece to power them to a strong total of 171 runs. Dunkley top-scored with a brilliant 75 off 53 balls, while Wyatt scored a quickfire 66 for the hosts. In reply, India were restricted to 166/5 to lose the game by 5 runs.
Despite a strong start from openers Smriti Mandhana (56) and Shafali Varma (47), who added 85 runs for the first wicket, India faltered in their run-chase as they fell short by 5 runs in the end to suffer their first defeat in the series. The Women in Blue will have a chance to clinch the series as they look to return to winning ways in the 4th T20I on Tuesday.
