29-year-old Pragya Singh, who went missing under mysterious circumstances from the Nanda Devi Express train while returning from Kedarnath Yatra, has finally been found safe in Begusarai, Bihar after six days.
Uttarakhand Police has taken him under its protection and the family has been informed about it. Pragya Singh’s husband had sought help from the Uttarakhand government in this matter. The woman’s husband had told the police that his wife’s last location was found in Haridwar Laksar. The biggest question still remains in this whole matter is how did Pragya disappear from the moving train and how did she reach Bihar, hundreds of kilometers away?
Pragya suddenly disappeared
According to the information, on the night of May 5, Pragya Singh was returning from Dehradun to Ghaziabad after completing Kedarnath Yatra with her husband Manish. Both were traveling in Nanda Devi Express. Manish told the police that both of them were talking normally till Haridwar. After this he slept.
When she opened her eyes near Muzaffarnagar, Pragya was not at her seat. Initially Manish thought that she might have gone to the washroom, but when she did not return for a long time, he started searching in both the washrooms and the surrounding compartments. The passengers were interrogated, but no clues were found. Meanwhile, Pragya’s mobile phone was also found switched off.
No clue found even at the station
When the train stopped at the next station, a search was carried out on the platform, but Pragya was nowhere to be found. After this, information was given to the Railway Police and the matter reached Roorkee police station, where a missing person was formally registered. As soon as the investigation started, the biggest problem faced by the police was the poor condition of the CCTV cameras. It was told that the CCTV cameras of Roorkee and Muzaffarnagar railway stations were switched off, due to which it could not be known whether Pragya got down from the train herself or someone got her down.
Investigation stalled due to CCTV being closed
Husband Manish also alleged that the investigation was badly affected due to the malfunctioning of the cameras of both the stations. The police conducted a search operation for several kilometers on the railway track and surrounding areas, but no clue was found. The investigating agencies also examined Pragya’s call detail records, messages and WhatsApp chats, but no suspicious activity was revealed in that too. Gradually this matter was becoming a blind case for the police. Teams of Uttarakhand Police, Railway Police and other agencies were continuously searching.
Pragya found after 6 days in Begusarai, Bihar
After a search operation that continued for six consecutive days, the police received information that Pragya was in Begusarai, Bihar. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached there and they were recovered safely. Husband Manish confirmed that the police has informed him about this and Pragya will be brought to Luxor soon. The family, which has been camping in Roorkee for the last six days, has heaved a sigh of relief.
What happened to Pragya?
Although the family and the police have definitely felt relieved after Pragya was found safe, the mystery still persists. The police is now preparing to record his statement, which is considered to be the most important link in this entire case.
At present the investigating agencies are working on three possibilities. First, did Pragya herself leave the train for some personal reason? Second, was there any kind of pressure on him? And thirdly, is there any aspect of this matter that has not been revealed yet? Police say that only after Pragya’s detailed statement comes out, it will be clear how she reached Begusarai after going missing from the train near Muzaffarnagar.
