Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP makes a comeback in India at Rs 28.99 lakh

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has reintroduced its flagship supersport, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, to the Indian market at a price of Rs 28.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The latest Fireblade SP arrives as the brand’s most focused, track-ready machine yet.

Race-derived powertrain

At the heart of the Fireblade SP lies a 999cc, liquid-cooled DOHC inline four-cylinder engine producing an impressive 215bhp at 14,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 12,000rpm. The short-stroke, semi-cam design promises lightning-fast throttle response and stronger mid-range performance. A new Two Motor Throttle By Wire (TBW) system, unique in Honda’s mass production lineup, independently manages each cylinder pair, ensuring smoother throttle delivery and enhanced engine braking.

Electronics and rider aids

The supersport is packed with electronic aids powered by a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Riders get a 3-level ABS with Race, Track, and Standard modes, alongside a 3-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) for high-speed stability. The 9-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), 3-level engine braking, and advanced Wheelie Control further sharpen the Fireblade’s safety and performance edge.

A 5-inch full-colour TFT display serves as the bike’s control hub, offering three preset riding modes and fully customisable settings, including the ability to enter rider weight for automatic preload adjustment.

Track-focused design

Aerodynamics are upgraded with new HRC-designed winglets, delivering crucial downforce while reducing yaw by 10%, thus improving agility at high speed. The RC213V-S-derived swingarm enhances rear grip and feedback, while the new Akrapovi titanium exhaust has been tuned for a linear, evocative note that rises with engine rpm.

The Ohlins Smart Electronic Control (S-EC) 3.0 suspension package, featuring NPX USD forks up front and a TTX36 rear shock, integrates spool valve technology for precision damping and superb track compliance.

Rider comfort and ergonomics

Honda has refined ergonomics with handlebars raised by 19mm and footpegs lowered by 16mm, placing the rider more naturally within the bike for better movement and control. A standard quickshifter with three-level adjustability allows seamless gear changes, enhancing both road and track usability.
