A group of Indian players will turn their focus back on red-ball cricket as they aim to make the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies in a two-match unofficial Test series between India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’, which will start on Tuesday (September 16).
Both games will take place at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium, with the second match to start on September 23. The Indian team will be led by Shreyas Iyer, who is aiming to make a comeback to the Indian Test squad after 20 months.
Sai Sudharsan, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, and Devdutt Padikkal are the four capped Test players in the squad. Abhimanyu Easwaran will also play, who has been part of multiple Indian squads but has yet to make his debut. KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj have been named in the squad but only for the second game, and hence will miss this fixture.
Meanwhile, it is a big series for the Australians as an audition for the opening spot between Sam Konstas and Nathan McSweeney on the cards. Xavier Barlett, Copper Connolly, and Kurtis Paterson are the other capped players in the squad.
