Special decoration in the temple

Anointment with water from 11 holy places

A special Kumbhabhishek is being performed at the peak of the temple with water brought from 11 holy pilgrimage sites of the country. For this, a special vessel was taken to the peak. A special flag hoisting program has also been organized at the peak of Somnath temple, which is considered to be a big attraction of this event. Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of Indian Air Force is going to perform an air show, which is making this program more special.

Why is Somnath Temple special?

Somnath Temple is considered the first among the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country. It is believed that this temple became a victim of foreign invasions several times, but it was rebuilt every time. The reconstruction of the present temple was initiated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel after independence and on 11 May 1951, the first President of India Rajendra Prasad took part in its consecration.
