The Income Tax Department called a statement aired on social media in a post late night on 14 September in a post, stating that the last date for filing ITR has been extended to 30 September, 2025. The department requested taxpayers to rely on only @Inometaxindia handle for any information. The department said that the last date for filing ITR is 15 September 2025.
A fake news is in circulation stating that the due of filing itrs (Originally due on 31.07.2025, and extended to 15.09.2025) Has been further extended to 30.09.2025.

Department advised taxpayers investors

The Income Tax Department said that its helpdesk is constantly working to help taxpayers filing ITRs, tax payments and other related services, and taxpayers are being helped through phone, live chat, webx session and X.
This time 8 crore returns estimate
By the way, experts are estimating more than 8 crore returns this time. According to the previous update, more than 6 crore returns have been filed. This means that 2 crore returns will increase in the coming few hours. Last year, more than 7 crore people filed returns. This means that this time it can be seen by more than 10 percent.
