Bangladesh Premier League T20: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has accused several players, team officials and franchise owners of violating the ICC’s anti-corruption code in corruption allegations related to the 12th season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The investigation by BCB’s Integrity Unit (BCBIU) has revealed serious allegations like betting related activities, corrupt offers, non-cooperation in investigation and hiding or destroying evidence. The board has confirmed all these allegations and immediately temporarily suspended these people.
BCB’s big action against these people
Bangladesh Cricket Board has issued notices to all the accused and given them time to reply within 14 days. BCB has made it clear that at present no further statement will be given on this matter. This action is being considered as a big step towards implementing strict anti-corruption policy in BPL. Bangladesh Cricket Board appointed a team manager Mohd. Lablur Rahman, a franchise co-owner Mohd. Action has been taken against Tohidul Haq Tohid, domestic cricketer Amit Majumdar and team manager Rizwan Kabir Siddiqui.
Notice issued on different charges
- Mohammad Lablur Rahman (team manager) – accused of not cooperating in the investigation and hiding/destroying evidence.
- Mohammad Tauhidul Haq Tauhid (Franchise Co-Owner) – Case of non-cooperation in investigation and non-compliance of demand notice.
- Amit Majumdar (domestic cricketer) – accused of betting related to the match.
- Rizwan Kabir Siddiqui (team manager) – accused of betting.
Saminur Rahman also trapped
BCB has also issued an exclusion order against Saminur Rahman. In the investigation related to the 9th, 10th and 11th edition of BPL, allegations of betting, making corrupt offers to players and maintaining links with corruption networks were found against him. Saminur Rahman has accepted this order.
