Thalapathy Vijay: ‘Master’ is sitting on Rs 300 crore cash, people said – ‘How will he handle the money of Tamil Nadu?’ | Thalapathy Vijay’s 624 Crore Net Worth Sparks Debate On His Financial Skills

Actor Vijay’s net worth is ₹624 crore. He has ₹313 crore in bank deposits (₹213 crore in savings account, ₹100 crore FD). His traditional investment style is in the news due to his minimal investment in the stock market.

New Delhi: The net worth of actor Vijay, who has taken a new entry in Tamil Nadu politics, is Rs 624 crore. This includes movable property worth Rs 404 crore and immovable property worth Rs 220 crore. In the year 2024-25, he has declared his income as Rs 184.53 crore, which he got from his own work, rent and interest. But the most talked about thing is his bank balance. According to the data of March 27, 2026, he has Rs 213.36 crore lying in just one savings account. This account is in the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) branch of Saligramam.

Not only this, Vijay has also made fixed deposits (FD) totaling Rs 100 crore in four different banks. This includes Rs 40 crore in Axis Bank, Rs 25 crore in IOB, Rs 20 crore in HDFC and Rs 15 crore in SBI. That is, his Rs 313 crore is kept safe in bank deposits without any market risk. In today’s times, where financial experts recommend investing in SIP or mutual funds, people on social media are having fun seeing Vijay’s faith in FD like old times.

An ex (Twitter) user jokingly wrote, “Just like Warren Buffet is sitting on $300 billion in cash, Thalapathy Vijay is sitting on $300 crore in cash. He is truly a visionary.” Vijay’s investment in the stock market is negligible. He has invested only Rs 19.37 lakh in shares, which is less than 0.04% of his total wealth. Furthermore, he has not invested any money in mutual funds or bonds.

Vijay becomes ‘Warren Buffet’ of Tamil Nadu

In this debate on social media, many people are also giving him investment advice. Some said that “If money had been invested in PSU shares, wealth would have increased along with regular income.” At the same time, one user called him “the worst nightmare of financial experts”. Another user sarcastically wrote, ‘How will a person who just keeps his money in FD without calculating inflation and returns, handle the economy of Tamil Nadu?’ However, some people say that Tamil people traditionally prefer to invest in gold and property, and Vijay has also done the same.

Vijay’s immovable assets worth Rs 220 crore include 10 residential buildings worth Rs 115 crore in Neelankarai, Saligramam, Mylapore and Egmore. Apart from this, there are commercial shops worth Rs 82.8 crore in places like Thyagaraya Nagar and Sholinganallur. His biggest commercial property is 2.30 acres of land in Koppur village, which he bought in 2023 for Rs 35.81 crore. Besides, he also owns non-cultivation land worth Rs 22 crore in Porur and Neelankarai.
