What did the 9 month old baby accidentally swallow while playing? In which part of the child’s body did the LED bulb get stuck? Through which medical procedure did the army doctors remove the bulb without surgery? Which command of the Indian Army shared the information about this successful treatment on social media?
While playing, a 9-month-old baby accidentally swallowed an LED bulb, which got stuck in his windpipe. This could have caused serious damage to the child’s lungs and could have required major surgery. But Indian Army doctors showed timely wisdom and saved the child’s life without any major operation.
This case pertains to Pune’s Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences (AICTS) Hospital. An LED bulb with rusted wires was stuck in the windpipe leading to the child’s left lung. Taking it out was a big challenge for the doctors. Eventually, Army doctors successfully extracted the bulb through a very complex ‘bronchoscopic’ procedure. The Southern Command of the Indian Army has shared information about this on its X account.

The Army wrote in its post, ‘Experts from the Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences, Pune have saved the life of a 9-month-old child. A dangerous LED bulb, along with corroded wires, lodged deep in the trachea of the child’s left lung was taken out through a highly complex ‘bronchoscopic’ procedure. In this situation, there was a risk of lung damage or the need for major surgery. But our doctors handled it very carefully. The child’s breathing has been brought back to normal without any surgery.
The post shared by the Army also contains a picture of an LED bulb taken out from the child’s windpipe. Also, the X-ray at the time the bulb was stuck and the X-ray after it was removed have also been posted. After seeing this post, many people have praised the work of army doctors in the comment box.
