Vivek Agnihotri, director of the film ‘Bengal Files’ has reacted to the crushing defeat of TMC in Bengal.

‘Moment of change’ in Bengal

Film director Vivek Agnihotri shared a long post on Instagram on May 5 expressing happiness over the Bengal results. He called it a ‘crucial moment of change’. He alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government had launched a campaign against him, due to which there were problems in taking his films to the audience in West Bengal.

‘I am not allowed to come to Bengal’ – Agnihotri’s allegation

Vivek Agnihotri said that his film The Kashmir Files was removed from theaters in the state. He claims that this decision was taken on the instructions of the Chief Minister. He also said that he was stopped from coming to West Bengal. According to him, after the release of The Kashmir Files, I was ‘cancelled’ in Bengal. The film was removed and I was not given permission to come to the state.

Allegations of ban on ‘The Bengal Files’ also

Agnihotri also made serious allegations regarding his second film The Bengal Files. He said that this film was completely banned in West Bengal. According to him, the trailer launch of the film was stopped, the team was attacked, several FIRs were registered against them. He couldn’t even go to the state to receive the award

‘Files’ trilogy remained in controversies

Vivek Agnihotri’s “Files” series of films has sparked debate across the country. Allegations were made against these films that political agenda was promoted through them, historical facts were distorted and attempts were made to increase tension in the society. ‘The Kashmir Files’ faced criticism for its portrayal of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, while ‘The Bengal Files’ courted controversy over the violent incidents of the 1940s.

Agnihotri also said that despite all the restrictions, he did not give up. He claimed that during the elections, secret screening of ‘The Bengal Files’ was conducted across the state, so that more and more people could watch the film. Agnihotri congratulated the people of Bengal by quoting Rabindranath Tagore’s famous poem Where the Mind is Without Fear. He said that this victory is the result of the ‘right decision’ of the people and now they can move forward without fear.
