Very sad news has come out from the judicial circle of the capital Delhi. 30-year-old Judge Aman Kumar Sharma, posted as Secretary of District Legal Services Authority in Karkardooma Court, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his Safdarjung residence.

The family alleges that Aman was a victim of severe mental harassment for the last 2 months. The name of her sister-in-law IAS Nidhi Malik is also coming up in this case.

According to the father, Aman had said on the phone just before his death – I am very upset, it has become difficult for me to live. The family alleges that Aman’s sister-in-law Nidhi Malik had complete control over Aman’s house. The family claims that due to the influence and interference of IAS Nidhi Malik, there were disputes between Aman and his wife and he was being mentally tortured.
Who is IAS Nidhi Malik?
Nidhi Malik is a senior IAS officer of 2013 batch of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre. He has obtained BA and LLB Honors degrees. Presently he is posted in Jammu and Kashmir. Nidhi Malik was the Deputy Commissioner of Reasi from December 2024 and is working as ‘Inspector General of Registration’ (IGR) in Jammu and Kashmir since February 2026. IAS Nidhi Malik is at level 13 of the pay matrix. Nidhi, resident of Haryana, was born on 31 March 1990. His UPSC rank is being reported as 108 on various government portals.
Family disputes and ‘block’ numbers
Judge Aman Kumar Sharma’s family says that when they tried to contact Aman’s wife’s parents, their number was blocked. The family alleges that a relative also refused to intervene saying that they could not interfere in this ‘high-profile’ case. At present, the police is investigating whether Aman took this suicidal step due to pressure from his wife and his sister.

IAS Nidhi Malik’s husband Devesh Kumar Mahla is a senior IPS officer of 2012 batch. Devesh Kumar Mahala is originally from Rajasthan and has obtained degrees like MSc, MTech. Presently he is posted as DCP (New Delhi District) in Delhi Police. Nidhi Malik was earlier in West Bengal cadre, but on the basis of her marriage to IPS Devesh Kumar Mahala (Inter Cadre Transfer), she was transferred to AGMUT cadre on 20 October 2021.
