Deendayal Gupta
Deendayal Gupta, founder and chairman emeritus of Dollar Industries Limited, a well-known hosiery sector company, passed away on Saturday. According to the statement issued by the company, his death occurred due to age related diseases. He was 88 years old. There is a wave of mourning in the industry due to the news of his demise.
The family is handling the business
Deendayal Gupta leaves behind a large family of wife, four sons and grandchildren. Presently his family is looking after the operations of the company and is carrying forward the strong business model created by him.
Journey from Haryana to Kolkata
Born on 13 September 1937 in Maneru village of Bhiwani district of Haryana, Gupta started his life in very ordinary circumstances. In the year 1962, he reached Kolkata, where he started manufacturing and selling hosiery products as per the needs of the customers. On the basis of his hard work and foresight, he gradually established manufacturing units and retail network.
Journey from small business to big company
In the year 1972, Deendayal Gupta laid the foundation of Dollar Industries. He focused on such markets where big companies were less active. This strategy made him progress rapidly. In nearly five decades, he transformed the company from a small business to one of the leading hosiery and apparel companies in the country. Today the annual turnover of the company is more than Rs 1,700 crore.
Honors and Achievements
Deendayal Gupta was awarded many prestigious awards for his contribution. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the West Bengal Hosiery Association and the Sunmarg Business Award. His life is an inspiring story of struggle, hard work and success, which the industry will always remember.
