The journey of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 has not been very good so far. Many star players of the team have failed to leave their mark. At the same time, some new and young players have not been able to make an impact yet in this season. This trend is continuing and this time Chennai Super Kings’ young spinner Prashant Veer had to go through this situation. In the match against Mumbai, Prashant hit 3 sixes in the very first over.

On Saturday 2nd May at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. CSK and MI Were face to face for the second time this season. In this match, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first. His decision was not good, when only 5 runs were scored in the first 2 overs and one wicket fell. But after such a bad start, Ryan Rickleton and Naman Dheer attacked from the very next over and started scoring boundaries.

Rickleton hit sixes in Prashant’s over.

Rickleton, the left-handed opening batsman who had scored a brilliant century in the last match, was showing a particularly aggressive attitude. He hit two consecutive sixes on Mukesh Chaudhary in the third over. Then left arm spinner Prashant Veer came on his target. Mumbai had scored only 29 runs in 4 overs but despite this, Rituraj Gaikwad surprised young spinner Prashant by bowling him in the 5th over of the powerplay.

This was only Prashant’s third match in IPL but for the first time he got a chance to bowl. Ryan Rickleton hit 3 brilliant sixes against Prashant Ki in this over. Generally captains avoid using left-arm finger spinners against left-handed batsmen. But Gaikwad pitted inexperienced Prashant against in-form Rickleton, which surprised everyone and the decision proved to be wrong.

CSK had made a big bid

This is the first IPL season of spin-allrounder Prashant Veer, who plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. This young player, just 20 years old, made a lot of headlines during the auction last year because CSK spent a huge amount on him. Leaving many teams behind, Chennai had made a hefty bid of Rs 14.2 crore for uncapped player Prashant with a base price of only Rs 30 lakh.
