Donald Trump: We are like pirates… What did Trump say about action on Iran? | Donald Trump Likens Us Navy To Pirates Amid Iran Ship Seizures

President Trump has described the US action to seize Iranian ships as the work of ‘pirates’. He called it a ‘profitable business’. The statement comes amid the US blocking Iranian oil tankers in Hormuz and sending back 45 ships.

Florida: The US has imposed sanctions on Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has given such a statement regarding an action of the US Navy, which has created an uproar. He compared the US action to seize Iranian ships to the ‘acts of pirates’. Trump made this controversial statement during a rally in Florida.

‘We are like pirates, but we are not kidding’

Trump spoke at the rally about the ban on Iranian ports and the process of seizing ships. He said, “We go to the ship, take control of it. The ship, the cargo, the oil. We seize everything. This is a very profitable business.” He then added, “We’re kind of like pirates, but we’re not kidding.”

This statement has come at a time when recently the US Army stopped two tankers carrying Iranian oil. Iran has expressed strong protest on this. Iran says that what America is doing is a flagrant violation of international laws. Iran has called it ‘armed robbery’ at sea. “The world is once again witnessing the return of pirates,” said Ismail Baghai, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry. He alleged that “America is trying to legalize its illegal activities.”

America sent back 45 ships

Since the tensions began, Iran has blocked shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Trump imposed a ban on Iranian ports. According to data as of Friday, US Central Command has sent back 45 ships that violated the ban. General Dan Kane has clarified that this ban applies to all ships going to or coming from Iranian ports. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has said that this ban will continue as long as necessary. At the same time, Iran has also made it clear that it will not loosen its control over the Strait of Hormuz until Washington lifts the ban on its ports.
