Lucknow Super Giants: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team is going through a bad phase in IPL 2026. Lucknow Super Giants have lost 6 out of 8 matches so far and are at the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, a good news has emerged for the Lucknow team. A star player of the team has joined the squad for the remaining season. Lucknow Super Giants had bid heavily for this player in the auction and bought him by paying a huge amount.
This player joined the mid-season team
Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has now joined the Lucknow Super Giants team amid IPL 2026 and he will be available from the match against Mumbai Indians on Monday. Inglis had informed the franchise before the IPL auction about his limited availability due to his marriage. Despite this, he was in great demand in the auction. There was a fierce battle between Lucknow and Hyderabad to buy Inglis. Hyderabad gambled on him for Rs 8.4 crores but in the end Lucknow bought him for Rs 8.6 crores.
Josh Inglis was married on April 18 in Margaret River, Western Australia and now he is ready to play IPL. Let us tell you, for Punjab Kings, he scored 278 runs in 11 innings last season, in which the average was 30.88 and strike rate was 162.57. Now he will try to strengthen the weak batting lineup of LSG. The team is now going to play matches against Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai in the next few days and will try to get its season back on track.
Matthew Britzke left the team
On the other hand, South African batsman Matthew Britzke has left the tournament due to personal reasons and returned home. According to reports, a close member of his wife’s family has passed away. He left the team before the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26 April. It is not yet clear whether he will return to the tournament or not, this is a big blow for Lucknow Super Giants.
