When the meeting of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Afzal Khan was fixed, both of them decided to have only one bodyguard each. Afzal Khan was accompanied by Syed Banda, who was considered a very dangerous warrior. Whereas Shivaji Maharaj gave special responsibility to Jeeva Mahale and said, “You have only one job, to keep an eye on Sayyid Banda.”
