The Hundred 2026: The bugle has sounded for the seventh season of England’s tournament The Hundred. The tournament is starting on Tuesday with both men’s and women’s matches at the historic ground of The Oval. According to the rules, Indian players can participate only in the women’s category. Many star players of the Indian team, which recently failed to make it to the knockouts of the Women’s T20 World Cup, are ready to show their mettle once again in England. All eyes on Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana, the opening batsman who scored the most runs for India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup, is returning to The Hundred after a break of one year. This will be his fifth season. After playing for Southern Brave from 2021 to 2024, Mandhana will be seen playing for Manchester Super Giants this time. Former Australian captain Meg Lanning is commanding this team. Let us tell you, Mandhana has won the title with Southern Brave in 2023. In the 2022 season, he scored 211 runs at a stormy strike rate of 151.79, while in 2023, he scored 238 runs with his bat.
Richa Ghosh also part of Super Giants
Explosive wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh will partner Smriti Mandhana in Manchester Super Giants this season. Both these players also play together for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). This is Richa’s third consecutive season and she has played for a different team every time. In 2023, he represented London Spirit and in 2024, Birmingham Phoenix.
Jemimah Rodrigues-Deepti Sharma’s new teams
Like her close friend Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues will also take the field this time with her new team. Jemima, who has played for three seasons, has left Sunrisers Leads and has now joined Southern Brave. At the same time, India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma is making a comeback in The Hundred after two years. Deepti, who hit six sixes for London Spirit in their title win in 2024, will play for Sunrisers Leeds this time.
