Arpita Sahu, 28, from Noida was swept away by the strong current of the river while cliff jumping in Rishikesh. The swimmers saved him in time. He advised not to underestimate the power of nature and to be careful while doing adventure sports.
debtOne never knows when a fun weekend trip to Shikesh will turn into a nightmare. Something similar happened with 28 year old Arpita Sahu, resident of Noida. Arpita is a corporate professional and also creates content on social media. She had gone to visit Rishikesh, but while cliff jumping there, she was washed away in the strong current of the river. It was fortunate that the swimmers accompanying him saved him at the right time, otherwise a major accident could have happened.
Adventure took me till death
Arpita Sahu had reached Rishikesh for fun over the weekend. There he decided to go cliff jumping. Everything went well the first two times, but the third jump was at risk. Later speaking to Hindustan Times, Arpita said, “I jumped off the cliff. I had already done it twice, so I thought I would be able to do it. But the third time, the current was much stronger than I expected. The water started pulling me away from the shore. I know how to swim, but I was not able to swim against such a strong current.”
Thank you to those who saved your life
As soon as Arpita got trapped in the strong current, more than one person jumped into the river to save her. A young man named Rahul and a foreign tourist, who was on a trip with Arpita, together pulled her out of the swollen river. Arpita said, “I am very thankful to those people. To be honest, if they had not helped, it would have been difficult for me to survive. I personally thanked them.”
Arpita also admitted that if she had worn a life jacket, she might have been able to swim out on her own. Taking a lesson from this incident, he said, “We should never underestimate the power of nature. No matter how easy something seems, circumstances can change in a moment. Such adventures should always be done with full responsibility and under the supervision of an expert.”
