This horrifying truth was revealed months later, when the forensic report revealed that the victim had consumed a highly poisonous substance called Sulphos.
Birthday invitation becomes a death trap
The name of the victim was Jitendra. According to the police, she was called to her in-laws’ house located in Trans Yamuna area of Agra on 22 November 2025. According to a report, he was called on the pretext of a birthday party. What seemed to be a family celebration soon turned into a mourning affair. Jitendra was allegedly served liquor during the party. As soon as he drank alcohol, his health started deteriorating rapidly.

Taken to hospital, but doctors declared him dead
The same day, at around 3 o’clock in the night, Jitendra’s condition deteriorated significantly. The family took him to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead on sight. His sudden death immediately raised questions, but at that time the real cause of death was not clear.
Mystery not solved by postmortem
Doctors conducted postmortem, but the initial report could not reveal the exact cause of Jitendra’s death. Due to this uncertainty, the police preserved his viscera and sent it for forensic examination. Later this decision proved to be the most important turning point of this case.
FSL report revealed the secret of murder
Nearly four months later, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) submitted its report. The results of the report were shocking. The report confirmed that Jitendra died due to sulfos poisoning. With this, what initially seemed to be a suspicious death became a clear case of murder.
The family took recourse to the court
Jitendra’s family never believed that his death was natural. On January 5, 2026, on court orders, the police registered a case at the Trans Yamuna police station. Later, on 16 March, the investigation was handed over to Kamala Nagar police station.
Police claim: Murder occurred due to quarrel between husband and wife.
During investigation, the police came to know that there was a serious family dispute going on between Jitendra and his wife Tanu for a long time. Officials believe that this dispute became the motive for the murder. Police say that Tanu and her father Mahendra together planned to murder Jitendra.
Sulphos was mixed in liquor
According to investigators, Mahendra mixed sulfos in Jitendra’s drink during the birthday party. Jitendra drank poisonous liquor, which ultimately led to his death. After interrogation, Mahendra reportedly admitted that poison was mixed in the liquor.
Wife and father-in-law arrested
After the forensic report and further interrogation, the police arrested both Tanu and Mahendra. He has been sent to jail. Now further legal proceedings are going on. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Abbas told Aaj Tak that Jitendra died under suspicious circumstances at his in-laws’ house. Since the initial cause of death was unclear, his viscera were preserved for examination. Forensic reports later confirmed the presence of poisonous substances. He further said that during interrogation of the father-in-law, it was revealed that poison was mixed in the liquor.
Mother demanded justice
Jitendra’s mother Munni Rani has demanded strictest punishment for the culprits. He alleged that his son was called to his in-laws’ house in the name of his wife’s birthday celebration. According to him, she was deliberately poisoned. He said that the accused should get the harshest punishment. The police are continuing their investigation to collect all the remaining evidence. The case has shocked local residents and exposed how a family celebration allegedly turned into a premeditated murder.
