Chandu, a 26-year-old Indian student in America, has committed suicide. He took this step due to the mental stress of not getting a job even after completing his master’s degree. The Indian community is raising money to bring his body to India and help the family.
Chicago: Chandu, a 26-year-old student from Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, sacrificed his life in America. After completing his master’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Chandu has been trying hard to find a job for the past few weeks. According to reports, he took this dreadful step due to mental stress of not getting a job.
Chandu was also very worried about the financial condition of his family. His father works as a security guard. Family and friends say that Chandu was very sad that despite completing his studies, he had to take money from home. His friends told that the challenges here had become unbearable for Chandu, who came to America with big dreams.
The Indian community in America has started raising funds to send Chandu’s mortal remains back to India. The target is to raise around $1.20 lakh (approximately Rs 1 crore), of which more than $76,000 has been collected so far. Actually, the cost of bringing the mortal remains from abroad to India will be around $25,000, which is not possible for the family to bear. The organizers have decided that the remaining amount after this expenditure will be given to Chandu’s parents, so that they can repay their loan.
Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu have also intervened in this matter. Nara Lokesh has appealed to the Union Minister to bring Chandu’s mortal remains to India as soon as possible. On this, Ram Mohan Naidu has assured that he has spoken to the concerned officials and will extend full cooperation to speed up the process.
Chandu’s body was found at his home in Chicago. Police have not yet shared any further information related to the death investigation. Another Indian student committing suicide due to despair and pressure after going abroad for higher studies is a very sad news for the Indian community settled in America.
