This is because people generally believe that in summer cold drink Drinking quenches their thirst, but cold drinks can dehydrate the body. Cold drinks contain high sugar, this food combination can increase water loss in the body of people who eat chips along with it and can disturb the electrolyte balance.

Why is there a risk of dehydration?

Dr. Parmeet explains that the body needs hydration in summer, but cold drinks can sometimes increase dehydration instead of quenching thirst. Caffeine and excess sugar can draw water from the body. At the same time, salty chips make you more thirsty, which can further increase water deficiency.

Chips contain a lot of salt and trans fat. These are not considered good for health. Regular consumption of these may increase the risk of obesity.

What could be better options?

It is better to drink coconut water or lemon water instead of cold drinks. The best thing is that you make ORS at home. For this, add 6 spoons of sugar and half spoon of salt in 1 liter of water and keep drinking it at intervals throughout the day. In this season, keep drinking water even without thirst, so that the body remains hydrated.
