New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a minor girl, along with her boyfriend and three of his friends, allegedly killed her mother in Jharkhand’s Ranchi. The girl has been detained. Her boyfriend and another accused has been arrested.
After killing Nahida Parveen, the 17-year-old daughter informed extended family members that her mother had fallen in the bathroom and was later found dead.
On Sunday, the relatives came to Ranchi to offer their tributes to Parveen and take part in the burial ceremony. However, two days later, the body was dug out after which the teen was detained for murdering Parveen, NDTV reported.
What’s the case
Parveen, a resident of Manitola, and her 17-year-old adopted daughter lived together. Parveen’s husband passed away four years back. He worked with the Electricity Department. After his death, Parveen got a financial settlement of Rs 45 lakh, with her daughter as the sole nominee.
On many occasions, her daughter withdrew money from the bank account and gave it to her 20-year-old boyfriend, Arbaz. When Parveen got a wind of this, she stepped in and tried to stop them. The teen girl and Arab didn’t like this.
They hatched a plot to eliminate Parveen, so they can get access to the entire money. The plan was to gain control of the money, obtain the job offered on compassionate grounds, seize the property, and live a life of luxury, the report said.
How the murder was executed
On April 24, Parveen was killed. She was choked with a pillow by the teen daughter, her boyfriend and three of his friends. The girl allegedly paid Rs 12 lakh for the contract killing.
Police probe revealed that the accused carried out their plan on Friday night. As Parveen was asleep, one of the accused allegedly placed a pillow over Parveen’s mouth, while another held her hands and a third held her legs.
Parveen put up stiff resistance and suffered a deep wound to her neck. She started bleeding and later succumbed to her injuries. Parveen’s body was kept in a deep freezer, while the bed was removed and hidden near a tree near the house.
How the plot was revealed
After executing the murder, the teen daughter called her relatives and told them of Parveen’s sudden demise due to a fall in the bathroom the next morning. Parveen’s body was buried the next day.
However, injury marks on Parveen’s neck were spotted by some relatives and this raised suspicion. On Sunday, Parveen’s brother-in-law filed a written complaint.
Police launched a probe and detained the minor girl. They also arrested two people, including her boyfriend from Bihar’s Gaya. Upon being interrogated, the teen girl spilled the beans. She told cops that she used to give money to her boyfriend, which led to frequent heated exchanges at home.
City Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said: “We arrested two people from Bihar’s Gaya district, including the boyfriend of the victim’s 17-year-old adopted daughter, and detained the girl. During interrogation, the girl confessed to the crime, stating that she had killed her mother after colluding with her boyfriend, Arbaz Khan (20), and his three friends. She killed her mother when the victim refused to give her money.”
Further investigation is ongoing and the accused are being questioned. A manhunt has been launched for the other accused involved in the crime. The exhumed body has been sent to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for post-mortem examination.
