Chennai man dies by suicide after hacking wife, case registered

Chennai: In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old man hacked his wife before dying by suicide in Chennai. His wife was an Instagram influencer, who had over 3000 followers on the social media site, the police said.

Sharing further details, the police said that the incident came to light on April 27, after the couple’s younger son reached home and found that both his parents were dead. While the man has been identified as Subramanian, his wife has been identified as Nagalakshmi.

The couple was staying separately

As per the police, the couple was staying separately for some time due to differences between them. Subramanian had shifted to Madurai in recent times to stay with a relative. After the separation from her husband, Nagalakshmi started her own Sree Sai Silks, a saree business, in Nanganallur district of the state.

She soon started expanding her business with the help of extensive Instagram promotions. Soon, her business started growing. She also sent her elder son Harish (21) for medical studies to Russia, and her younger son, Sailesh (18), is pursuing a first-year dentistry course in Chennai.

Bodies sent for autopsy

According to the India Today, Subramanian recently returned to Chennai and also reconciled with his family after apologising for his previous behaviour. He reportedly sent a disturbing message to Sailash on April 27. When Sailash rushed home, he found the dead bodies of both his parents.

The police reached the spot after being informed of the incident. The bodies of the couple have been sent to Chengalpattu Government Hospital for autopsy. The initial probe suggested that there was an argument between the couple, after which Subramanian allegedly killed Nagalakshmi. Further probe is underway, the police said. Recently, a migrant worker, his wife and their two-year-old child were killed in the city, after which three accused were taken in custody.
