President of America Donald Trump and Prime Minister of India Narendra ModiWashington (USA) – “Since India continued to import oil from Russia, we imposed a 50% import duty. I consider this decision ‘historically significant,’ ‘bold,’ and ‘necessary,'” reiterated U.S. President Donald Trump. He also admitted that this decision has strained relations between Washington and New Delhi. Trump was speaking on the program Fox & Friends.

In the interview, Trump revealed: “I have instructed G-7 nations to take the same steps against India and China as we did.” Describing this as a “test of global resolve,” he claimed such measures would demonstrate unity against Moscow’s use of energy as a geopolitical weapon. Trump further remarked that the impact of Russia’s oil trade is actually “Europe’s problem. Far greater than ours.” His statement suggested that he sees his actions as a kind of favour to Europe.
