PT Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanti 2025: Service festival will be celebrated as ‘Swachh Utsav’ in Uttar Pradesh from 17 September to 2 October. During this period, 15 lakh plantation, cleanliness campaign, anti -plastic campaign and awareness programs on environmental protection will be organized.
The forest department of UP is going to make the service festival more special this time. The department will celebrate this festival from 17 September to 2 October as ‘Swachh Utsav’. During this period, programs like plantation, cleanliness campaign, single use plastic ban and water conservation will be organized.
Cleanliness and public awareness campaign will be done in service festival
According to the forest department, public awareness campaigns will be conducted on this period on cleaning, weeding, rainwater harvesting and environmental protection. For monitoring the campaign, Secretary environment, forest and climate change Sushant Sharma has been made the nodal officer at the government level. At the departmental level, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Project) Ramkumar has been given the responsibility.

Plantation on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Jayanti
On 25 September, there will be a plantation program in every district on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. On this occasion, public, schools, institutions, NGOs, industrialists and gram panchayat members will also be added. Forest Department’s associate institutions will also be part of this campaign, Bagh Mitra, Crash Mitra and Wetland Mitra.
A target of 15 lakh saplings
Deepak Kumar, Mission Director of Plantation Mahabhiyan-2025, said that during the service festival, 1.5 million saplings will be planted across the state. A minimum of 100 plantation will be ensured only in city forests. The selection of site in the districts will be done in consultation with the District Magistrate and the Urban Development Department. The priority will be given around the urban area, river banks and ponds.
Public representatives and cultural programs will also be involved
Mayor, MP, MLA and public representatives will be present in the programs. Also, street plays, cultural programs and innovation will also be part of the service festival, so that more and more people can connect with environmental protection.
