Ozzie Albies contributed significantly with a two-run homer, and Ronald Acuña Jr. recorded two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Mike Yastrzemski also shone with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored, helping to secure the win for Atlanta.
Pérez’s Impressive Performance
Pérez, who was designated for assignment earlier this season but later re-signed, improved his record to 2-1. He allowed just two hits and four walks while striking out five batters, lowering his earned run average (ERA) to 2.22.
Mize’s Injury and Game Highlights
Mize, who started the game for the Tigers, was removed after sustaining a groin strain while covering first base on a ground ball. He pitched for 2 1/3 innings, giving up two runs, three hits, and a walk, while striking out three batters.
The Braves took an early lead in the third inning when Yastrzemski hit a double along the right field foul line. Acuña drove him home with a double to left field, followed by Matt Olson’s line drive that scored Acuña. Albies later added a two-run homer in the eighth inning.
Injury Concerns for the Tigers
In a troubling moment for the Tigers, center fielder Javier Báez was carted off the field after injuring his right foot during a play at first base in the fifth inning. Báez awkwardly struck the base with his left foot, causing his right foot to fold under him as he fell.
