After GT’s win over CSK, captain Shubman Gill shared a post with the yellow whistle. There was a debate on social media regarding this symbol of CSK, which some considered as a sarcasm and some as appreciation. Gujarat won this match with 20 balls remaining.
Chennai: An Instagram post by Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL at their home ground in Chepauk has set social media on fire. Gill shared a photo of himself sitting in a flight, in which he has a yellow whistle in his hand. This whistle is the symbol of CSK’s famous ‘Whistle Podu’ anthem. Gill wrote with the photo, ‘Thank you Chennai’. But CSK fans did not like this. They allege that Gill has made fun of Chennai by defeating them on their own ground and using their own symbol.
On one hand, CSK fans are accusing Gill of taunting them, while on the other hand, some people are calling it a ‘boss move’ of Gill. He believes that Gill has expressed his love for the atmosphere of Chennai and the audience there. As soon as the post went viral, a heated debate broke out between the fans of both the teams in the comment section.
Let us tell you that in the match held in Chepauk yesterday, Gujarat had won one-sidedly over Chennai. CSK had scored 159 runs, which Gujarat achieved by losing only 2 wickets with 20 balls remaining. The hero of Gujarat’s victory was Tamil Nadu player Sai Sudarshan, who scored 87 runs in 46 balls with the help of 7 sixes. Gujarat’s bowling led by Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj had broken the back of Chennai in the powerplay itself. At one time Chennai’s score was 37 runs for 4 wickets. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (74*) remained at one end, but players like Sanju Samson and Shivam Dubey could not do anything special.
There was also a controversy in the match. In the 19th over of CSK’s innings, the umpire did not give a no-ball to a ball by Arshad Khan. Jamie Overton was out on the very next ball, after which the dugout and fans of Chennai expressed their displeasure.
